Hannah Kemp-Welch: Hyperlocal Radio
8 March – 22 April 2019
Hannah Kemp-Welch, 2018 Open House artist-in-residence, shared the process and outcome of her year-long residency with North Cambridge communities.
Over 2018, Hannah worked with groups in North Cambridge to create a new sound work which was shared with our visitors in Hyperlocal Radio.
Kemp-Welch was inspired by Cambridge pioneering company Pye Electronics, their history and remaining impact on the local community as well as Kettle’s Yard’s founder, Jim Ede’s own experiences of public broadcasting in the UK and USA.
Hyperlocal Radio was the culmination of creative engagement with over 3,000 people in North Cambridge with elements of this work being shared on Cambridge 105 on World Radio Day, 13 February 2019.
