Sonita Alleyne OBE Appointed Chair of the Kettle’s Yard Committee

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sonita Alleyne OBE as the new Chair of the Kettle’s Yard Committee.

As Chair, Alleyne will lead the Committee, support the smooth running of Kettle’s Yard, offer advice and guidance to the Director and the rest of the Kettle’s Yard team and act as an advocate and champion of Kettle’s Yard.

Alleyne is currently Master of Jesus College, Cambridge and is the first woman to lead the college since its foundation in 1496. She is an honorary fellow of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and holds an honorary Doctorate from the University of the West Indies. She is also Patron of the Red Hen Project in Cambridge, a Cambridge charity who has worked closely with Kettle’s Yard on family and community projects. Previously, Alleyne has held board roles at places including the Museum of London, University of the Arts London and the BBC Trust.

Sonita Alleyne succeeds Bridget Kendall OBE, whom we are very grateful to for her support and hard work over the past three years.

The team at Kettle’s Yard is governed and supported by a formal university committee. The Director and other staff report to the Committee on a quarterly basis. The Committee is the decision-making body for Kettle’s Yard, drawing on the expertise of staff and relevant sub committees.

I am so pleased to be taking up the post of Chair of the Kettle’s Yard Committee. Kettle’s Yard is an important part of the cultural landscape of Cambridge and I am looking forward to working with the team at an exciting time for the gallery.

The Kettle’s Yard Committee is an integral part of Kettle’s Yard, overseeing everything we do. We are delighted to be welcoming Sonita Alleyne as our new Chair. Sonita brings exceptional arts, business and leadership experience. We look forward to working closely with Sonita to achieve our future ambitions.
