Introducing Our Families-in-Residence

Meet Kettle’s Yard’s first Families-in-Residence!

Inspired by Making New Worlds: Li Yuan-chia & Friends, and Li Yuan-chia’s welcoming of local children to create at the LYC Museum, we are delighted to welcome our first Families-in-Residence to Kettle’s Yard.

Unfortunately for our families, it doesn’t mean that they get to move into the Kettle’s Yard house, but it does mean they get to enjoy lots of in-depth creative sessions with us. The families will be spending time discovering Making New Worlds: Li Yuan-chia & Friends alongside our Artist Facilitators, sharing their thoughts, reflections and ideas. This will aid them to develop 3 new events, activities or creative resources to help other visitors engage with the exhibition in the new year.

The families successfully applied after taking part in creative activities and taking a Li Yuan-chia inspired family portrait with artist Anna Brownsted at community events in the city.

Find out more about our three families below and stay tuned to see what they get up to.

The Oti-Sarpongs

Joining creative writer Hannah Jane Walker are the Oti-Sarpongs, a happy family of 5 who have lived in three continents! This creative family love drawing, painting and having fun together and tell us they have lots of good ideas for what will make Kettle’s Yard a great place to visit.

The Arnold-Mills

Working alongside artist Anna Brownsted, the Arnold-Mills are a joyful family of 4. We hear they are creative, clever, curious, social, open and lots of fun. We certainly saw this in their first session with Anna as we played games together to get to know the exhibition.

The Emokpaires

This wonderful family of 4 are working with sound artist Hannah Kemp-Welch. As well as painting and drawing, the family are very much into photography, videography and also are highly musical. We can’t wait to hear more.
