Music and performance is integral to a lot of Offeh’s work. Did you know that the exhibition title is actually taken from the lyrics of the Portishead song It Could Be Sweet? Offeh is inspired by popular culture, and music and sound works are a key part of his artistic practice. For instance, in his video artwork Covers (2008), Offeh re-enacts photographs on album sleeves by iconic Black singers from the 1970s and 80s, creating static poses that highlight the potential of photographs to shape and define identity. You can also find out more about Offeh’s inspirations with this exclusive audio on our free digital guide on Bloomberg Connects.
