In 2013, the Trio Chagall was born from an adolescent encounter between three young musicians who, in the space of just ten years, have become one of the most award-winning chamber ensembles in the history of Italian music and beyond. The name ‘Trio Chagall’ (the result of a random choice at the time) today no longer speaks of the self-awareness of this trio who, while still only in their mid-twenties, are already in the midst of important career milestones, including not only a tour including such key venues as Wigmore Hall in London and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and upcoming debuts at the Tonhalle in Zurich and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
Therefore, Trio Chagall now becomes ‘Trio Concept’: a name which reflects the idea of music-making of this young, cohesive and culturally mature ensemble. They make this change not with cynicism, but rather with all the enthusiasm and freshness befitting their age.
Prolific competition winners, the Trio Concept was the recipient of the First Prize at the “Schoenfeld International String Competition” of Harbin in China. Furthermore, in June 2023, after passing two selections and succeeding in the finals at the Wigmore Hall in London, the Trio was nominated YCAT artist. In both cases, it was the first time for an Italian ensemble to achieve these recognitions.
Music at Kettle’s Yard
Music has always been an important part of Kettle’s Yard, and concerts have been played here since 1970, when the inaugural concert was given by Jacqueline du Pré accompanied by Daniel Barenboim. Kettle’s Yard creators, Jim and Helen Ede, made the new extension of Kettle’s Yard with music performances in mind and left instructions that there were to be ‘at least three really good concerts every year’.
Today we offer around twenty concerts a year.
