Panel Discussion: Young People and Art Today

Wednesday 5 March, 7pm

Join us for a panel discussion on young people and art today for our current exhibition Paint What Matters!

This event has passed. £10 (£8 Friends, £5 Students), booking required

Paint What Matters! celebrates the creativity and voices of young artists (aged 4 – 21) in Cambridge who have shared what matters to them. They are the artists of the future and we want to support and encourage their development going forward.

However, there are challenges in moving this into action.

Join Jane Sillis, Director of Engage (National Association for Gallery Education), as she invites a panel of Cambridge experts to share and discuss positive ways forward for young artists aged 4 – 21 years.

Kettle’s Yard is proud to partner with Engage as the panel discussion also marks the close of Let’s Create Art 2025. Let’s Create Art is a sector-led initiative developed by Engage and designed to provide children and young people across the UK with high quality art engagement encounters and opportunities.

About Paint What Matters!

Paint What Matters! is a unique exhibition at Kettle’s Yard celebrating the talent and creativity of children and young people in Cambridge. The exhibition will share the work of 500 young artists aged 4-21 years across our two galleries.

For this exhibition Kettle’s Yard invited children and young people in Cambridge to create artworks about what matters to them today, in any artistic style or medium, from local to global issues; from their home to our shared planet; from love for families, friends and communities to concern for nature, animals and the environment.

A selection of artworks created by Kettle’s Yard’s partner schools and community groups is also on display.
