The Michael Harrison Memorial Concert - New Music: Adam Swayne

Adam made such an impression when he performed at Kettle’s Yard last season as part of the Riot Ensemble, that we had to invite him back for a night to himself. Adam’s the pianist of choice for so many composers, and no surprise with his formidable technique and musical intelligence to match. For our season finale he’ll play a programme on the theme of protest and disruption, including Frederic Rzewski’s Four North American Ballads. Rzewski took simple tunes whistled by American factory workers and transformed them into explosive outbursts at the keyboard. And when Adam performs the Ballads, they’ll be just as exciting to see as well as hear.
