New Music: Manchester Collective

Manchester Collective’s rise has happened at breakneck speed – a group that began in alternative back street venues and then found themselves at the BBC Proms. But it should be no surprise from musicians who constantly find ways to excite and engage audiences with unique musical experiences. Tonight Manchester Collective will take us from the frozen winds of Alaska to the shimmering heat haze of Death Valley in California, courtesy of American composers John Luther Adams and Missy Mazzoli. And there are two string quartets by Philip Glass, whose instantly recognisable style has had a cultural impact like no other living composer.
