Library of Sanctuary: Help Issam Kourbaj create a new artwork
Friday 13 October, 1 – 4pm
Our friends at Arbury Court Library in North Cambridge have recently been awarded ‘Library of Sanctuary’ status, meaning they offer support, participation opportunities and welcome to asylum-seekers.
Be part of a new artwork at Arbury Court Library
To celebrate, artist Issam Kourbaj is creating a new artwork and we welcome your help! Come along to the Clore Learning Studio at Kettle’s Yard to take part.
In advance of your visit, think of an object to bring with you which might make you think of ‘sanctuary’ or helps you to find peace. It might be your favourite coffee cup, your slippers, a pebble, a childhood toy or something relating to a restorative hobby. Anything at all.
Pop along to the Clore Learning Studio on Friday 13 October between 1 – 4pm to have your hands photographed holding your object by the project photographer, and we will also record your story about your object.
Be part of a warm welcome at Arbury Court Library.
Access
The Clore Learning Studio is fully accessible. It can be reached by stairs or by lift, to the basement -1 floor. There is an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities in the basement beside the Learning Studio. There are more toilets and facilities on the ground and first floors.
