Hello, House

4-7 July, 11am-5pm

Join us for an exhibition of work presented by ARCSOC, the University of Cambridge Architecture Society.

This event has passed. FREE, come along

The exhibition, Hello, House, celebrates the students of Scroope Terrace — their models, drawings, and the mundane, but beautiful moments of sharing a studio. The show celebrates the potential for student agency to impact the architectural discipline – and how exciting this can be. The work will take over the Clore Learning Studio, and the Ede Room.

Hello, House will present selected works from undergraduate and postgraduate students. The exhibition embodies the ethos of founders Jim and Helen Ede; creating an open space for visitors to explore, and encouraging students and young people to engage with the arts.

The exhibition celebrates the potential for student agency to impact the architectural discipline — and how exciting it can be. Unique among architecture schools, ARCSOC is fully responsible for the Cambridge summer exhibition: from fund-raising and venue scouting to designing, moving, building, and curating —student members do it all. With over two hundred student members, ARCSOC is a diverse group of young people starting our careers as creative professionals. In the studio and beyond, they bring people together and make things happen: conversations with architecture’s most exciting and important contemporary voices, cult-favourite club nights with thousands of attendants, experimental 1:1 design with our annual pavilion, a weekly radio show of deep cuts — ARCSOC does it all, and more.

About ARCSOC

ARCSOC is the University of Cambridge’s Architecture Society.

Unique among architecture schools, ARCSOC is fully responsible for the summer exhibition: from fundraising and venue scouting to designing, moving, building, and curating – student members do it all. With over two hundred student members, ARCSOC is a diverse group of young people starting their careers as creative professionals. In the studio and beyond, they bring people together and make things happen: conversations with architecture’s most exciting and important contemporary voices, club nights with thousands of attendants, experimental 1:1 design with the annual pavilion, and a weekly radio show.

Unlike at any other architecture school, ARCSOC has complete freedom over our summer show. As a team and a community, we raise the money, choose the venue, curate, design and build our show. Everyone is involved, and everyone is represented – we think that is an unbelievably special thing. This year we have the incredible opportunity to exhibit at Kettle’s Yard. We are extremely excited to be exhibiting in Cambridge this year, opening up our work and department with our home city. Equally through our public exhibition run events such as open talks and exhibitions tours, we are excited to bring in a wider community — who we are very excited to meet!
