Gwen Raverat in the Kettle's Yard House
13 September – 23 November 2014
In Helen Ede’s bedroom, in the house at Kettle’s Yard, a series of wood engravings by Gwen Raverat (1885-1957) were on display. Gwen Raverat is already represented in the house in the form of a portrait by Elisabeth Vellacott. Most famous as the author of ‘Period Piece – a Cambridge Childhood’ Raverat also played a significant part in the wood engraving revival in Britain at the beginning of the 20th Century.
We are grateful to the Raverat Archive and the Fitzwilliam Museum for their assistance. A selection of Gwen Raverat cards and books are available in the shop.
