Visit to V&A East Museum, Storehouse and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Thursday 24 September, 11am-4.30pm
Join the Friends of Kettle’s Yard for an exploration of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Visit both V&A East Museum and V&A Storehouse with a walking tour in-between exploring the legacy of the London 2012 games which has bought world class educational, cultural and sports venues to East London.
About the Visit
We will meet at the newly opened V&A East Museum (O’Donnell + Tuomey, 2026), where there will be time to explore the permanent collections and enjoy lunch (not included) in the Jikoni cafe.
We will then explore some of the park with a tour guide specialising in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This outside tour will last 90 minutes and finish at V&A Storehouse (Diller Scofidio + Renfro Architects, 2025) where there will plenty of time to enjoy this exciting venue and relax in the cafe.
Architectural highlights seen on the walking tour include the London Stadium (Populous Architects, 2012), the wave-roofed London Aquatics Centre (Zaha Hadid Architects, 2012), the ArcelorMittal Orbit Sculpture/observation tower (Sculptor Anish Kapoor and engineer Cecil Balmond, 2012) and Sadlers Wells East (O’Donnell + Tuomey architects, 2025).
