Visit to the Keate Family Arts Trust
Sunday 16 November, 10am or 11.30am
Join the Friends on a visit to the Keate Family Arts Trust in Cambridge. The Trust holds the art collection of the late David Keate; a fascinating array of mid to late Twentieth Century prints, ceramics, textiles and more.
About David Keate and the Trust
As a Quaker, the instruction to ‘make your home a place of beauty’ was at the forefront in David Keate’s mind when he left his home to the Keate Family Arts Trust in 1989. Keate himself was also an artist, creating large collages from hogweed, which are also on display. The Trust’s objects are clear that the works are to be shared in a domestic setting, not a museum or a gallery. The family have continued to collect after the founder’s death in 1991.
For the Friends visit, the focus will be on some works from the Great Bardfield Artists alongside an interesting portfolio from the estate of textile designer, Marianne Straub, featuring works by Alan Reynolds, Walter Hoyle, Sheila Robinson and others.
