A Celebration of Art, Colour & Flowers with Horticulturalist Author, Sean A Pritchard

Monday 11 May, 6-7pm (exhibition open from 5pm)

Join the Friends of Kettle’s Yard in the house for a springtime talk and floral demonstration with the talented author, and founder of the award-winning garden design studio, Sean A Pritchard. Ever since the publication of his debut book, Outside In, the garden and landscape designer has won acclaim for his floral cultivation and arrangements, beautifully captured in his 17th century cottage in the Mendip Hills.

Book Now £15 Friends, (£20 non-Friends) booking required

Sometimes the most evocative of places eschew the fussiness of colour and pattern; they carve a lighter path, creating neutral spaces that encourage the imagination to fill in the blanks. Kettle’s Yard is one such place, and its simplicity is a sobering lesson in restraint.

About the Event

To mark the publication of his forthcoming second book, Atmosfloric – which features Kettle’s Yard – Pritchard will explore the ways in which artists and horticulturalists have experimented with floral colour in the garden and home. Pritchard will also discuss his approach to flowers both in the context of Kettle’s Yard – and the works on display in the Handpicked: Painting Flowers from 1900 to Today exhibition.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition from 5pm, before the talk commences at 6pm.

After the conversation, Pritchard will conduct an informal floral demonstration using seasonal blooms selected with kind permission from the gardens of Jesus College Cambridge. The event will finish with a book signing, and the chance to discuss any botanical queries, one-to-one with Pritchard. Atmosfloric is available to pre-order at a special event price of £25 (RRP £30) when booking your ticket. Orders will be available to pick up on the evening. There will also be the opportunity to purchase the book at the event.

The conversation will be led by the design writer Aimee Farrell; with a contribution by Kettle’s Yard Assistant Curator, Naomi Polonsky.
