Welcome
Kettle’s Yard welcomes all families to the house and galleries. We offer a range of free and paid for activities for parents, carers and children of all ages.
The Kettle’s Yard house is free for all those aged 25 and under. We have timed entry tickets to the house. Children who are carried do not need a house ticket.
The exhibitions are free for all to visit.
What’s On For Families
Holiday Workshop: Artist Botanicals: Casting and Printing
Join artist Ian Brownlie for a fun morning discovering relief casting and simple print-making techniques in this workshop for 7-11 year olds. Your creations will be inspired by the Handpicked: Painting Flowers exhibition and artworks and objects on display in the Kettle’s Yard house, resulting in new and unique floral artworks to take home.
Studio Sunday: Relaxed Session
Join us for a relaxed Studio Sunday session aimed at children and families with additional sensory needs.

Activity Sheets
Pick up a free activity sheet from the Kettle’s Yard café and find out how the founders of Kettle’s Yard, Jim & Helen Ede, used to welcome visitors to their dining room in the house.
Arts Award Discover Booklets
Have a go at Arts Award Discover by purchasing a booklet from the Kettle’s Yard shop. Suitable for ages 5 – 25 years. Arts Award is a range of five qualifications that support you to grow as an artist and arts leader.

The Art Cart
The Art Cart is a mobile creative activity cart with creative family activities for you to have a go at on your next visit.
Access & Facilities
- We have baby changing facilities on the first floor and in the Clore Learning Studio.
- We recommend that buggies and prams are stored in the space on the ground floor beside the lift, opposite the Clore Learning Studio. Your belongings are left at your own risk.
- The Clore Learning Studio is located in the basement, -1, and can be accessed by stairs or in the lift.
- There is an accessible toilet in the Clore Learning Studio.
- Regrettably we cannot accommodate buggies and prams in the house, but they can be used throughout the galleries and learning spaces.
- Please feel free to breastfeed wherever you feel comfortable.
- There are highchairs available in the cafe and the cafe is able to warm up bottles.
- We ask that all children and young people are accompanied by an adult throughout their visit to Kettle’s Yard
