Jim and Helen Ede had two daughters. Elisabeth married Harold Swan and had three sons, Philip, Martin and Andrew. Mary married Peter Adams and they had two daughters, Jane and Caroline (nicknamed Quince), and a son, Simon.

This drawing was made by Jane. It shows her, aged 5, and her younger sister playing with a doll. Its display alongside work by established artists and in a normally private space is a powerful reminder of Jim Ede’s delight in art as an everyday experience, touching the lives of all.
