Bridges Cares

Bridges Cares

Join Bridges, a project where young people aged 16 -24 years, come together to create a special artwork for Centre 33, a local charity supporting young people in the city.

The FREE workshops are accessible, supportive, and designed with young people with a care role in mind.
No experience needed, just bring yourself, your ideas, and a little creativity!

Sessions are led by artist Holly Sandiford and supported by Hannah Walker from the Community & Learning team at Kettle’s Yard. All materials are provided and lunch and snacks.

Workshops take place at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge in the Clore Learning Studio from 11am – 2.45pm on these Saturdays throughout 2026:

Participant Feedback

The workshops are so supported and open – I feel like I can really reflect on what makes me feel well’.

It is OK to talk about your feelings here. That was surprising.

Each time I come to these sessions I leave feeling relaxed and cannot stop smiling.

I love that I have some friends now… I have not had that before. It means a lot to me.

About Bridges

Bridges is an exciting programme at Kettle’s Yard for young people. It aims to empower young people, giving them confidence and agency in art spaces by using art exploration as a tool to support their personal and creative growth. This programme asks the question:“What and where do we connect to?”

Cambridge is a city of bridges, connecting people from around the world with learning and culture, it is also the most unequal city in the UK. This project aims to open up those cultural spaces and include young people.

Bridges is a three year project (2024 – 2026). For each year an artist with a socially engaged practice is selected by young people taking part in the project.

Supporters

This project has been kindly supported by Tamsin and Stewart Wilkinson, De Reus Foundation, and The Penchant Foundation. We are grateful for all of our supporters who make Bridges happen.
