Simon Nicholson

Born 1934 – Died 1990

Simon was the son of Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth. Born in London, between 1953 and 1957 he studied at the Royal College of Art, London, and the University of Cambridge. In 1964-71 he taught at the University of Berkeley, California. His work is characterised by an interest in the texture of different surfaces and materials, often taking the landscape as its starting point. Nicholson showed his work on both sides of the Atlantic throughout the 1960s and 70s.
