Mario Sironi

Born 1885 – Died 1961

Sironi was born in Sassari, Sardinia. He studied in Rome and through the artist Umberto Boccioni came into contact with the Italian Futurists. He was later influenced by the Pittura Metafisica movement. A founder member of the Novecento group in 1922, he painted numerous frescoes, including those for the University of Rome.
