Jamila Prowse

Jamila Prowse is a self-taught artist who works across moving image, textiles, writing, painting and photography. Originally a curator and arts administrator, she came to making after a worsening in her lifelong disability which meant that she could no longer work in arts organisations. Her work investigates themes of disability, autism, mixed race ancestry and social isolation. She moves between mediums as a form of play and in response to fluctuations in her physical symptoms. Her work has been included in exhibition and screenings at the V&A, Whitechapel Gallery, Somerset House, South London Gallery, Studio Voltaire and Goldsmiths CCA.
