Habib Hajallie
Habib Hajallie (born 1995) is a British artist of Sierra Leonean-Lebanese heritage, whose practice champion figures from ethnically diverse backgrounds that have been omitted from traditional British portraiture. He graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from Loughborough University in 2017. Hajallie’s oeuvre primarily comprises ballpoint pen drawings on pieces of reused printed paper, such as maps, book pages and antique texts. Placing himself and his family members as the subjects of his portraits, Hajallie explores the intersection of his Western upbringing and West African roots. In 2018 he was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries and in 2022 he was elected as a member of The Royal Society of British Artists.
