Dr Alexander Carter

Dr Alexander Carter is Academic Director for Philosophy and Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Cambridge, Professional and Continuing Education. He is also a Fellow and Lecturer of Interdisciplinary Studies at Fitzwilliam College, where his research centres on creativity and AI. He explores how our biological nature gives us the human capacity to be more, and also less, than thinking things. In short, ‘AI does not think like us; it thinks like we think we think. Consequently, AI cannot create like us.’  Understanding this, he examines the ways in which we must make careful use of AI to enhance rather than replace our creative talents.
