Curtis Holder
Curtis Holder (born 1968) is a London-based artist who uses graphite and coloured pencil to create large-scale portraits and figurative works on paper. He graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from Kingston University in 1991 and a PGDip in Character Animation from Central Saint Martins in 2005. Holder’s practice is rooted in a process of dialogue with his sitters. His drawings emerge through lines that trace the evolution of their relationship. Holder aims to bring visibility to people whose stories are often overlooked in mainstream narratives. His work is represented in public collections including Leeds Art Gallery, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, London.
