Bridget Riley
Born 1931
Born in London, Riley studied at Goldsmiths’ College (1949–52) and the Royal College of Art (1952–55). In the 1960s she developed a style that explored the potentialities of optical phenomena, so-called ‘Op-art’. One of Britain’s most acclaimed artists, she was awarded the International Painting Prize at the Venice Biennale in 1968.
