Beth Darbyshire
In 2024 Beth joined Kettle’s Yard in the role of Archivist, helping to preserve and care for the archive collections, assist researchers and support the activities of the House and Collection curatorial team.
Beth previously worked in archive collections at Homerton College and Duckworth Laboratory (Department of Archaeology) in Cambridge and with audiovisual and film archives at London Film School and Deluxe Europe. She studied Photography at Toronto Metropolitan University and Archive Studies at the University of Dundee.
An active volunteer in Cambridge’s heritage sector, Beth has shared her collections know-how with Cambridge Museum of Technology, Cambridgeshire Collections and the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.
Beth’s favourite object at Kettle’s Yard is Ben Nicholson’s painting ‘1962 (Argos)’:
“I fell in love with Nicholson’s work after befriending several of his paintings at the National Galleries of Scotland. To me, Argos is a fine example of drama and harmony. It has sharp corners and soft circular scratches; both dull and electric colours. Concrete grey and sky blue. Delightful!”
