Aqsa Arif
Aqsa Arif is Scottish Pakistani artist and filmmaker based in Glasgow. She completed a BA in Fine Art at the Glasgow School of Art in 2019. She uses poetry, printmaking, film and installation to explore the psychological experience of resettlement in Western culture. She creates abstracted, poetic narratives populated by characters and avatars, expressing personal and intergenerational trauma through the lens of fantasy and fictional world-building. She has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Edinburgh Printmakers and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Glasgow. Her work is held in the permanent collections of Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, Leeds Art Gallery, The Hepworth Wakefield and Pallant House, Chichester.
